The lying, cheating jerk…

27 Apr

I know that some of you reading the title might be panicking that Gary is the lying, cheating jerk.  Thankfully, this is not about Gary.  He is still the most wonderful guy I’ve ever met, and, I cannot wait to be his wife.  We’re just 1 month away until our wedding — but, I digress— back to the main subject of this post…

It came to my attention that someone who has been pursuing someone I consider a friend,  has turned out to be a lying, cheating jerk…  I just have to write about it to get it off my chest because I feel like I’m going to explode.

Now, you have to keep in mind that my friend never had a romantic interest in this man.  She went on maybe two dates with him, and, tried to let him down easy each time.  He just didn’t get it, and, he continued to pursue her.  So, she tried playing it the other way, and, tried to get to close him by telling him she wanted to marry him.  That scared him.  Sort of…  He would come back and then leave ridiculously stupid emails saying “Sorry this will never work.”

Finally, out of desperation to get rid of this guy, my friend confronted this man and asked him if there was someone else.  The answer was “yes”.  She thought she was finally rid of him.  WRONG.

He tried to play the friendship card with my friend.  She’s just too nice and too much of a lady to tell him otherwise, so, she thought this is where this rather odd relationship was going end up.  Friends.

Wrong again.  Once again he tried to pursue her, told her that he still loved her…  And this time it turns out the rat is ENGAGED to the other woman.

I’m not pissed that he hurt my friend.  Because he didn’t.  She didn’t want him.  She never did.  What pisses me off is that he is still lying to my friend’s face totally unaware that his Facebook page is totally public, and, it’s there in plain daylight for anyone to see the status of his relationship with this other woman.

My friend confronted this guy last night and asked if the woman he is engaged to knows about about her.  The answer he gave was “no”.  He then continued the lie and said his daughter only met the woman he is going to marry twice.  Really?  Does he really think my friend is dumb enough to believe him?  And, here’s the kicker.  He’s telling my friend the engagement is off and that he has the ring in the car — WRONG!  Once again a simple visit to his Facebook page shows that the SOB is lying yet again.

I want so badly to get in touch with the woman this man is going to marry, but, as my friends have pointed out.  It isn’t my place.  It isn’t as though my friend is or ever was seriously interested in getting together with this guy.  It just pisses me off that he is such an F*ing liar — and who knows how many more women this nut is doing this same thing to or with….

And trust me when I say this guy is nothing special.  Average in height, average in looks — and gainfully unemployed.  Oh wait, I forgot… On disability…  A real catch, isn’t he ladies?  Not to mention he is about as dependable as a used diaper.

I am soooo tempted to post his Facebook page, but,  I won’t… I might be blonde, but, I’m not a dumb one.  But, I will say if your name is Deb and you are engaged to a guy named Fred, and you live in NJ, I’d be asking a ton of questions if I were you and reading this blog…

Almost wedding time… almost

29 Mar

For those of you who think I’ve fallen off the planet, sorry to disappoint you, but, I’m still very much alive and kicking.   I know it’s been months – since December, 2011 to be exact — since I’ve take a few minutes to blog, and, I do ask for your forgiveness if you’ve been a regular reader.   So far most of 2012 has consisted of me stopping modeling and undertaking a new work endeavor (more to be revealed later in the year), and, of course, my all-free-time-consuming wedding.  So that’s where I’ve been.

Don’t be sad about me not modeling anymore, I LOVED every minute of my time being a model and there are so many aspects of modeling that I am going to miss, but, it was time to move on.  My age is beginning to work against me in this ultra youth oriented business, and, I had a wonderful opportunity open up to me in another area of fashion that I just couldn’t let pass me by.

I’m still writing for Examiner.com, as a matter of fact, I just started writing for them again this past week.  I was asked back, so, I must have done something right!  Here’s my page if you’d like to subscribe:  http://www.examiner.com/fashion-in-new-york/rose-goodhall  But, I have to admit, it is great to be back writing at Examiner.com

I’ve made another new writing friend, T.R. Threston, and, if you’re into travel then you should subscribe to her Examiner.com column too, she does a wonderful job and has lots of great travel tips:  http://www.examiner.com/luxury-lifestyle-travel-in-new-york/t-r-threston

Now, let’s talk about my all consuming wedding.

It’s funny.  Gary and I started off that we wanted a small wedding — really small.  Close friends and family only.  Well, then it started…

Family members had hurt feelings they weren’t going to be invited and that upped the guest list, then the co-workers started asking about their invitations and the guest list went up again.  Then friends from college, high school, even grade school began coming out of the wood work!  The amazing part is that very few were deterred that the wedding is taking place in New York City and not in Chicago.  Go figure.

So our “small” wedding is now several hundred people — I’m doing my best to keep this from turning into a three ring circus.  I just want the wedding over and my life with Gary to begin.  I know it sounds unromantic, but, for me its about the life after the wedding, and, not just the wedding.

Finally we are at the point that everything is done.  My gown and bridesmaids dresses were ordered and fittings and final fittings are now taking place.  Gary and our groomsmen have all been fitted for tuxedos and they are on order and should be here shortly.  We have our church book, our musicians selected, our receptions venue under deposit with final payment coming up rapidly.  We are ready to walk down the aisle and say I do.

The big day?  Memorial Day Weekend.  Stay tuned for frantic updates from the bride (me).  Because with my luck… Who knows what will go wrong <Grin>

Why I love Fall in NYC

19 Oct
New York City - Rockefeller Center

Ok, granted, I haven’t lived in NYC longto really proclaim this statement, but, I do love being in NYC in the Fall.  I can’t explain the mood, but, perhaps “pre-holiday happiness” would be the best way to describe it.

People are a bit friendlier (yes really!)  The leaves are beginning to fall and change, the tourists are really begin to fill the city streets — and believe it or not the department stores are beginning to show the first signs of the holidays to come — the holiday shops are beginning to pop up.

Add in the fact that Rockefeller Center Ice Rink has officially opened (well, ok, they didn’t open as planned due to the weather), but, still it is another sign that the holidays are approaching… (Happy sigh)

That means some of my favorite things will be coming up shortly… Like the annual lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree.  And, of course, shopping!!

Most people are shocked to learn that I enjoy shopping for friends and family more than I enjoy shopping for myself.  I can’t explain it… There is just something VERY satisfying about finding the “perfect gift” for my loved ones.  It’s a high that I get the day I shop for it, and, then again when I wrap it, and, then finally the day it is given and opened.

And, then there are the things that really count… Like my Kiva team – we’re already 80% to our set fund raising goal for 2011.  This is a feeling of satisfaction that is actually very selfish — even though what we do is raise mirco-loans for others…  It feels soooo good when we help someone to help themselves… Knowing that we helped changed a life…  It’s just a feeling that is so positive and wonderful — it’s selfish 🙂   I’d like to double or even triple our fund raising goals with my Kiva Team in 2012 –  care to join us?  Here’s the link: http://www.kiva.org/team/rosegoodhallteamfashion

Well, off I go… in the rain (and I’m smiling…)

It’s been a busy summer and fall looks just as busy

24 Sep

I know…

I’ve been a very bad girl and haven’t kept up with my blogging, but, I do have a pretty good excuse, I’ve been very busy!  Let’s see, where do I begin?

Fashion Week 2011

Fashion Week, I guess… If you’ve never been involved in Fashion Week there is no way to describe the absolute chaos that surrounds it — of course, I mean this in a positive way, but, nonetheless, it would make even the calmest person’s head spin!  You have fittings, more fittings, hair styling, and, lots of time waiting around waiting to walk down a runway for a total of roughly 40 seconds.  The upside to Fashion Week madness?  One of the designers (although I am not allowed to tell who — just someone from a major fashion house) allowed me to keep one of the garments that I wore on the runway!  And, I absolutely love this piece!  I know a lot of people assume that the models get to keep the clothing, but, in reality, it is rare, and, that is why this is such a big deal.  Especially since the retail price of this garment is in the $4500 range!

Then add in my regular modeling work, fortunately, it has been based in New York during fashion week, but, it means hours of clothes fittings, makeup, hair, and, lots of time in front of a camera getting that “perfect” shot.

The Plaza Hotel -- the location of our wedding reception

Now let’s add in my own wedding which has been tons of little headaches… One of my bridesmaid dresses was ordered in the wrong size, and, it had to be reordered.  We have a few out of town guests who would like “cheaper” accommodations, but, don’t want to stay outside of Manhattan!  Fortunately, I am working with a wonderful, extremely patient and professional travel agent who is helping me out, but, the guidelines set have made it more than challenging to find a hotel for these specific guests!  Now I know why my BFF in NYC, Elena, had such a small wedding in Australia!

Speaking of Elena, I’d like to give some shout outs…

Shout Outs

Congratulations to Elena and Paul who are now officially married in the eyes of the United States!

Congratulations to Jacqueline Collen Tarrolly on officially opening her new business (Toadstool Farm Vintage) – complete with ribbon cutting ceremony!  Very cool!

Congratulations to Tina for getting her copyright for her new book “Tharston Manor“.  I can’t wait to read it!

And, then getting back to my schedule and life… Well, then there is the matter of Gary, I make it a point to spend as much time with him as possible each day, and, we have “date” night at least once a week.

Matter of fact, we went to see “Moneyball” last night, and, I absolutely LOVED it.  I mean, I’m a baseball fan, but, I certainly don’t live for the sport, but, this is such a feel good movie, everyone — regardless if you like baseball or not — should go see it.

And, Gary’s Aunt and Uncle are coming in today for the week from California, and, we’re going to see “Anything Goes” tonight on Broadway.  I’m looking forward to it!

So that’s why I’ve been up to in a nutshell, and, that is why I’ve been such a bad girl about not blogging for so long.

Oh and one last thing — for future fashion designers….  Please be sure to follow my column on Examiner.com this coming week… I’ll be featuring a scholarship opportunity via Project Runway!

Ok… I think that’s really it this time, I promise I’ll try to blog a bit more regularly, but, if I don’t you can always catch up with me via my Fashion Column: http://www.examiner.com/fashion-in-new-york/rose-goodhall or on Facebook:  http://www.facebook.com/rosegoodhall

Thanks for reading!

Rainy Sunday

15 Aug

Yes, I’m here and I’m alive and kicking.  It’s a rainy day on Sunday, August 14, 2011 and I do mean raining!  Some places on Long Island had over 10 inches of rain… Just imagine if it was snow…..

Check out a photo that I took today, this should give you an idea of how wet it is out there…

Rainy Sunday in NYC

Anyhow, lots going on —

I’ve been working non-stop… Modeling that is…

Doing my best to keep up writing for Examiner.com — are you following my column? http://www.examiner.com/fashion-in-new-york/rose-goodhall

I’m half-way to my Kiva.org goal which is to raise $500 by the end of the year.  I think we’re going to hit that goal way ahead of schedule.  Join my Kiva Team here:   http://www.kiva.org/team/rosegoodhallteamfashion

And, of course, getting ready for that little thing known as my wedding to Gary in May, 2012.

Like I said, I’ve been kind of busy, but, I will do my best to blog more regularly again.

Until next time…

Off to London and the Royal Wedding (well sort of…)

15 Apr

London’s Calling…. And, as luck has it, I just happen to be heading off to London for the next few weeks, and, fortunately, I will be there during the Royal Wedding.  I still haven’t figured out where I’m going to try to stand to watch the event yet, and, no, I wasn’t one of the handful of people to get an invitation, but, I’m sure as heck going to join in the celebration!

It’s kind of exciting when you think about it…  After nearly a decade of dating, Prince William is settling down with Kate Middleton, and, while I’m speculating here — it is also kind of fun to think that the next Royal generation isn’t far behind… (Since the monarchy has an old rule of “having an heir and a spare”).

I was still pretty young when Princess Diana was killed, but, I do remember watching the whole thing on tv, and, I do feel a bit bad for Kate Middleton (since she is going to be compared to Princess Diana on so many levels.)  I’ve found being in the public spot light is trying at times (and I’m a relative unknown), I wish Kate Middleton all the luck and strength in the world in dealing with the everything and everyone that will cross her path. And I mean that most sincerely!

But, I digress, off to one of my favorite cities in the world — and the chance to hang out with some of my cousins who I haven’t seen in about 6 months — going to London is always like going home to me.  And, I can’t wait to have bangers and mash and my Aunt Kay’s mushy peas 🙂

Hugs to all — and look for my live reports from the Royal Wedding!!

Another week just about gone…

24 Mar
The Plaza Hotel on Central Park South in New Y...

I swear I’ve been so busy lately that the days and weeks are just blurring into one.  This is a good thing, because, in a few short weeks, I’m heading to Australia for my friend Elena’s wedding.  (The wedding is in May.)

I don’t have anything fun or interesting to really write about this week.  It’s been one of those “keeping the nose to the grindstone” weeks, and, unfortunately that makes for a dull blog entry.  I AM excited about my parents coming to NYC next weekend 🙂  They’re going to meet Gary’s parents for the first time, and, we’re all going to discuss wedding plans, and, just have some fun together.

Oh well, I guess, I DO have something to tell you…  If you’ve been following along, we have decided to book The Plaza Hotel for our wedding.  A few weeks ago I put up a poll on my Facebook page asking for friends, family, and, fans for their input, and, hands down the majority of people voted for The Plaza.  So that’s now a done deal.   If you’ve never seen The Plaza Hotel or haven’t seen it since it’s renovations, you can see photos on my Facebook page at:

And, yes, of course I’m excited!  But, the wedding is such a small part of the overall picture — if Gary I went to City Hall to be married, I’d be just as excited.  I’m just so happy when I am with Gary, we have so much in common, and, we’re always laughing, and, most importantly he makes me feel like the most special person in the world.  I can’t wait to be his wife, and, in a few years, start a family together.

Speaking of weddings, I will be in London during Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s wedding.  And, no, I wasn’t one of the lucky people invited, but, regardless, I do wish them luck and happiness together (even though I’ve never met either one of them.)  So, with all of this going on, I guess you can understand why I don’t have much to write about for this entry.  Then again, it is rather amazing how much I managed to ramble on about nothing so far 🙂

Well, I see the clock is ticking away, and, Gary and I are meeting Elena and Paul for dinner and a movie tonight.  So with that I will wish you all a pleasant weekend, and, I’ll check in with you again next week!

Wedding plans underway

18 Mar

One of my very close friends, Tony, asked me if there are more wedding plans to reveal, and, I told him “yes” but that I won’t reveal them until next week.  I’m a bit superstitious (as silly as it is) about telling anything until I am absolutely certain it is concrete.

I don’t want to say “Hey, we booked such and such for the wedding reception” only to have it fall through because someone booked our date first!  But, yes, things are well under way for the Rose and Gary wedding in 2012.

One of the hardest projects has been selecting bridesmaid dresses.  I know I’ve been in my fair share of weddings, and, I don’t care what the bride thinks — there isn’t anyway I’ll ever wear ANY of the bridesmaids I ever bought.  I’m not as bad as Katherine Heigl in “27 Dresses“, but, I do have a number of dresses that I probably should just pack up and give to Goodwill.  It is something I’ll have to make a point of doing when I get home to Chicago.  My Mom has been after me forever to do that…

Anyhow, getting back to the wedding plans… Here’s what I will tell you so far…

  • Since we’re both Roman Catholic, of course, our wedding will be a Roman Catholic ceremony
  • For a lot of different reasons including having family all over the world, we’re having the wedding and reception in NYC — specifically Manhattan
  • The wedding will be in 2012
  • Gary’s best man is his brother John, my maid of honor is my best friend in NYC Elena

And that’s all I’m telling for you, so if you’re interested… You’ll just have to keep reading to find out the rest of the information!  Yes, I know… I’m a stinker!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Springing ahead

13 Mar

Ok, yes, my “blondness” was at its best this weekend, like many others out there I forgot to set my clock ahead last night, and, again this morning.  Personally, while I prefer the Spring and Summer months, I could do without this losing one hour of sleep.

It’s been a busy month, and, my schedule is getting even more jam packed between work, Elena’s wedding, and, of course my own.  That isn’t to say Gary and I still don’t make a true effort to have “date night” at least once per week.  For example, this weekend we went to The Monkey Bar (an NYC institution — you know — one of those places to see and be seen in…) and then we headed to Broadway to catch “How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” staring Daniel Radcliffe and John Larroquette.

Loved the show, and, thought the cast was great, but, I kept waiting for Daniel to morph into Harry Potter.  I guess it will be a while before most people take him for anything beyond Harry Potter, and, truthfully, after I let the whole Harry Potter and Hogwarts thing go… I was pleasantly surprised.  Radcliffe can REALLY act – so yes, I do highly recommend the show to just about anyone.

So that’s all I have to say at the moment, I’m off to chat with my bridesmaids about various wedding things.  And, of course, Elena and Paul’s wedding in Australia comes closer with every week, and, there is so much I need to do before gearing up for that trip.

Until next time, all the best to you and yours…
