Fall 2015 in NYC: What’s not to love

23 Oct

Well, yes, I’ve been a bad girl.  I haven’t kept up my New Year’s resolution to be more faithful about posting in my blog.  Shame on me, but, I do have a busy life, and, it can be hard to find the time and energy to post.  Regardless, I am going to make more of an effort.  I know I say that every single time, but, I do mean it.  I just have to execute it!

As Meg Ryan says in “You’ve Got Mail” don’t you love Fall?  Actually the exact quote is “Don’t you love New York in the Fall?”  Gary and I have so much going on from what promises to be a fantastic Halloween party at our friend Amanda Cumming‘s place to getting ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and, New Year’s Eve.  Oh sure, some cynic out there will say the leaves in Central Park haven’t changed yet, and, the weather’s been too warm, but, it doesn’t change what time of year it is and that’s the part to focus on.  I mean, sure, I’d love to see more explosive Fall colors in the trees and foliage, but, and, admittedly, it is a bit bizarre to see people ice skating at Rockefeller Center with short sleeve shirts but, it is such a busy and fun time of year, I don’t know why I used to hate it so much.

Maybe things will start feeling more like Fall next weekend.  After all, what’s Halloween without the crunch, crunch, crunch of leaves as you walk on the sidewalk?  And, with the opening of the Bryant Park Holiday Village next Friday (October 30th) and the New York Marathon on Sunday, November 1st.  Maybe the weather will catch up with the calendar and things will start to feel more like true Fall.

Overcast, rainy days

4 Oct

I’m sitting here at work and find myself getting sleepy.  True, I am just getting over a bad cold, but, I think it is more so the overcast, rainy day we’re having here in New York City.  I’ve never been a fan of this type of day.  I don’t mind rain, in fact, most days I actually enjoy it, but, what I  don’t like days like today — overcast and drizzle.  I say if you’re going rain — then rain!!

This type of day is like the girl who can’t give an immediate yes to the guy who proposes to her and is crazy about her or the guy in restaurant who changes his order 10 times before he lets the waiter go.  It’s just plain annoying!

I’m not asking for a deluge but make up your mind already!  If you aren’t going to rain then let the sun come out and shine.  If you’re going to rain then rain!  I have cute new umbrella I’d love to use, but, I’m not going to waste it on a day that is so indecisive!

Think I’ll flip on the TV for a bit… Maybe I catch a rerun of “Ugly Betty” or Project Runway 🙂

What is it about the Fall?

2 Oct

I’ve often wondered what it is about the Fall that makes me feel cozy and why I always turn so domestic.  I start cooking, decorating, and, just in general make the apartment more homey.  I don’t know if it is because the days are shorter or the knowledge that winter isn’t far behind.

And, in the Fall, when it is n overcast/raining day like today in NYC, I like nothing more than just curl up and not even go outside.  I’d much rather stay in and cook and… Well, just feel cozy.

Just a passing observation for today.
